Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the matrix support model in 24-hour Type II and III Mental Health Centers (CAPS) in Recife, Pernambuco. An evaluative, normative study was conducted, assessing the Degree of Implementation (DoI) based on criteria, indicators and structural and process parameters guided by the construction of the logical model and judgment matrix, validated by expert consultation. Data collection involved the application of a structured questionnaire to 97 managers and higher-level professionals, non-participation observation and document review. The DoI is incipient (53.1%) of the intervention, and by dimension structure and process (44.8% and 57.2%, respectively). In the process dimension, the educational actions component was not implemented (18%), while the pedagogical-therapeutic actions were implemented (78.4%), except for CAPS E. The study demonstrated unfavorable implementation, exposing weaknesses and strengths of matrix support actions in Recife’s CAPS, with the potential to contribute to positive changes in management and clinical practice. Investment in professional training for matrix supporters and managers, work instruments, digital technologies, and educational actions is recommended.
