Abstract

The study aimed to discuss the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic specifically on women health, in its various aspects, with special attention to those related to the social dynamics of gender inequalities and violence. The discussion was based on the women health and epidemics literature, data about the condition of women during the Coronavirus pandemic, in
2020, especially in Brazil, but also in other countries with different socioeconomic characteristics. The analysis exposed three central aspects in which the Coronavirus pandemic
affects women health: the exposure of care professionals, health workers and domestic workers; reproductive rights; and domestic violence. The work contributed to understand the
ways in which epidemics can expose the health of women, whether in precarious working conditions, in the suspension of their rights in health care, or in the increase of violence in the
context of social isolation.
