Abstract

To objecte develop an instrument for the assessment of self-perceived health in adults and its validation by specialists. Methodological study, based on the theoretical pole of Psychometry, with two phases: 1) Theoretical: identification of the dimensions of self-perceived health; and 2) Construction: the instrument development and its content validation by specialists. The instrument was built based on 61 studies and validated by 9 health professionals. To analyze the interobserver agreement and reliability, the content validity index (CVI) and the Binomial Test were calculated, respectively. The instrument was built based on a comprehensive review that allowed for concept, constitutive and operational definitions. The questionnaire was initially composed of three dimensions composed of 25 items. In the content validation phase, only one item had a poor CVI (0.56), being eliminated from the instrument. Another three questions were added at the suggestion of the experts. At the end, the instrument had 27 items divided into two dimensions. The total CVI of the instrument was 0.84. This research enabled the development of a new proposal for an instrument to assess PHC in adults that is internally valid and reliable, based on positive health.
