Abstract

The study aimed to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the articles published in The Journal Saúde em Debate, on the theme of Mental Health, in the context of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, in the period from 2012 to 2019. The search was carried out in the journal's online collection in October 2019. Initially, the articles were exported to the Zotero Standalone 5.0® software, and 66 texts were selected for textual and bibliometric analysis. These texts were then transferred to LibreOffice Writer and later analyzed on IRAMUTEQ (Interface de R pour les Analyses Multidimensionnelles de Textes et de Questionnaires). It was observed that most publications occurred in São Paulo state (18.2%), in 2014 (24.2%) and 2017 (25.8%) and used a qualitative approach (40.9%). In the descending hierarchical classification, the analyzed content was divided into seven classes that gave rise to four thematic categories.  The vast textual content exposed in the similitude analysis and in the thematic categories that emerged, denote the complexity of the field of mental health care and point to the need for the engagement of society, health professionals and researchers, to overcome challenges anchored in conduct that are still controversial, in view of the advances achieved.
